Why birth photography?
The birth of a child is a monumental event filled with larger-than-life emotions and dozens of small details that you never want to forget. Hiring a birth photographer to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments ensures that your child's unique birth story is documented in stunning, professional quality images that you can look back on time and time again and even share with your child one day. Having a birth photographer present also frees up your partner from having to take pictures and lets them be present in the moment and fully engaged and supportive of you!
Why Grasshopper Studios?
I have been capturing births for my clients for over three years and my passion for the specialty has only grown with time. I consider it a great honor to be entrusted with documenting that most special day for parents and my goal each time is to do so with respect, professionalism, and love. With over 40 births in the books by the end of 2017, you can rest assured that I have the experience necessary to capture everything that will make up your child's unique birth story, from the smallest detail that you may not have even noticed to the big moments of the first breath, the first look, the first cuddle - all while working with often tricky lighting situations and staying out of the way. Birth photography is my passion and an art I have worked hard to hone. It is so rewarding to me to know that I have given my clients meaningful and beautiful photographic reminders of one of the most amazing days of their life.
What are past clients saying about birth photography by Grasshopper Studios?
"When I think back on our experience with Emily photographing our first child's birth, one word comes to mind: perfection. Absolute perfection! From family members' reactions to our son's first second in this world, Emily flawlessly captured each special moment. During my actual delivery, my husband got lightheaded and basically passed out. Emily quickly appeared from the corner she was so quietly taking pictures in and helped me push! I'm not sure there are any other photographers out there who would step in like she did! Every single time I look at our pictures, I cry tears of joy knowing that I have these images to cherish forever. Emily is amazingly talented and passionate about her work, and her pictures show that. She was professional, but was able to create such a personal relationship with us that it felt as if she was part of our family. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her or speak highly enough of her pure talent! Emily is absolutely amazing!!"

"Emily with Grasshopper Studios is amazing!! We met and talked only a few times before the delivery of our baby boy but the day of our delivery we felt as if she had been a friend forever. She is great at what she does! Our pictures were awesome and done in a timely and professional manner. Thank you, Emily, for an amazing experience with Grasshopper Studios!"

"I highly recommend Emily to anyone in the Jackson area looking for a birth photographer. Having Emily there allowed me and Ian to be 100% in the moment and never worry about taking a photo... I was able to be in labor, be a mom, and enjoy those first moments of life and not worry about what photos were being taken. To me, that's absolutely priceless. The photos mean the world to me. They show the true love story of me and Ian and the day we became parents."
- Starla H., 2015 Birth Client
"It's amazing to fall in love all over again... Looking at my husband's face as he saw our baby girl for the first time, and the expressions on our families' faces as he went to the waiting room to deliver the news of a new baby girl. You never realize how much you miss, but there is so much that goes on during labor that the mother doesn't get to see. Looking back at the pictures gives you the most amazing, beautiful, and heartfelt feelings you will ever know."
